About a year ago , when you wanted to get ranked at the top of the search engines for your keywords, things were pretty simple…

You went to Google Keyword Tool, found some keywords with a lot of demand, then built a whole lot of links to your site!  If you did things consistently, you could pretty quickly outrank huge brands.

TODAY , while you still need to use the Google Keyword Tool to find out what the demand is for your product or service, everything after that has about changed!  Today the path to the top of the search engines is more like a side effect of good marketing.  To do SEO today, you need to build your site into an authority site!

For example , to become an authority site today, your online marketing could include a website, blogging, email marketing, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, videos, local search marketing, press releases, real media opportunities, guest blog posts, infographics, podcasts, marketing automation, and much much more!

The problem with that is who has time to learn how to do all of that when you are so busy running your business!  Many entrepreneurs and business owners take the next logical step and try to hire someone to do it for them!. What happens next is that they are presented with a strategy that will actually get results, but the price tag is so high, that there is little to no room left for profit.  Many business owners then make the mistake of trying to find a cheaper vendor to do the job for them, and then after about 6 months, wonder why they are not getting results.  Having worked with many small business owners, I can tell you that unless your business is already generating a million dollars of annual revenue, the best business decision you can make is to learn how to implement online marketing yourself!

No one will ever be as invested in your business as you are.  By learning how to do online marketing yourself, you as the business owner will become aware of a whole new world of opportunities.  Once you have an understanding about how things work online, you will start to incorporate some of the principles into your offline marketing as well!
Before we go much further I want you to rest assure and stop worrying.  I’ve got some GOOD NEWS for you…

I’m Nicole Munoz.  While you may know me as the SEO Expert I want you to remember something…

All I had was an IDEA, an old computer, and a desire to make my life different.

I was fortunate that the very first info product I bought online was a little ebook called “How to Start a Yahoo Store” by Andy Jenkins.  I stumbled across the book by following some links off of ebay where I was searching for some books about homeschooling.  Someone had put at the end of their listing: “Discover how I learned to sell things online and make money too!”

As I read the sales page about the ebook , I began to dream about what was possible.  As a missionary mom of one small child living in a 3rd world country, I felt guilty going out for Starbucks with “church” money!  I began to wonder how my life could be different if I could simply earn about $200 extra dollars a month through the internet.  As a stay at home mom living in a third world country, there was no other option to go out and get a job like I would have done living in the States!  I shared the sales page with my husband and he agreed to “invest” that $47 into a new hobby!  We thought from the very start that maybe it will never work… and if it doesn’t then we have a nice hobby… but if it does… that would be amazing !

The first chapters of the book talked about how to determine the demand for a product online using…. Google Keyword Tool!  I learned about dropshipping, writing with the FAB method of copywriting, buying ppc ads, and how to drive traffic.  It all seemed SO overwhelming but I took a deeeeep breath and dove in!

I still remember the day I got my first sale.  My store had only been open for about 2 weeks and I was still in the process of uploading all of the products, writing product descriptions and figuring things out when …. cha ching!  SALE!  I sold a Coleman cooler and made about $30 profit!  WOO HOO!  So exciting!  Within a few months we were averaging about $3,000 per month in sales and that was fun!

With the profits I began to invest in my online marketing education and began to learn about how to get my site ranked to the top of Google!  After buying a course called “Stomping the Search Engines” and putting into action the things on the course, my site shot to the top of Google and I began to rank for the extremely competitive keyword: camping gear!  Our traffic and sales went through the roof!

After running my online store for several years I realized that although it was fun, I enjoyed even more helping others learn how to market their own sites!  In 2008 I launched Start Ranking Now so that I could help other business owners experience the same success I had.

Since 2008 I have helped hundreds of business owners increase their traffic and sales and as a result be able to hire more staff, take more time off, and begin to enjoy their business some for the first time in their lives!

I started my first website in 2001 to share about our families mission work in Mexico.  In 2003 with $50 I started my first ecommerce store while still living in the country of Mexico… and with dial up!

I grew that one simple ecommerce website into a successful business that continues to thrive and ranked #1 for the word “camping gear” for over 7 years.  I still run businesses that have nothing to do with “making money” – so I always practice what I preach.

And best of all, I enjoy teaching people how to build a true lifestyle business.  The same one that let’s me run my business from the country of Mexico where I continue to serve by my husband and also let’s me spend a lot of time with my 7 young children.  That’s what it’s all about…living life on your terms!
